Dr. Pablo Ruiz, DVM
Dr. Ruiz always wanted to be a veterinarian. He is originally from San Sabastian, Puerto Rico, where, as a young child he helped take care of the animals on his grandfather’s farm. He has fond memories of early morning feedings of all the animals and he happily remembers being chased by geese and protective hens!
Dr. Ruiz attended the University of Puerto Rico and Kansas State University for his undergraduate studies. He also worked at Kansas State University School of Veterinary Medicine as manager of the barn facility. From 1992 to 1996, Dr. Ruiz attended the University of Tennessee where he graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Ruiz joined the medical team at All Creatures Great and Small in May 2016. He enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine but has particular interests in internal medicine, emergency care, surgery, and radiology. What Dr. Ruiz likes most about being a veterinarian is helping to preserve the animal's quality of life and strengthening the human-animal bond.
At home, Dr. Ruiz has two dogs, a poodle named Jack and a hound mix named Gigi. When he is not practicing medicine, Dr. Ruiz enjoys spending time with his wife, Cecilia, and playing with his two sons, Kyle and Riley. Dr. Ruiz loves to travel and learn about different cultures, visit museums, scuba dive, cook, and garden.
